Serving the community since 1990, Fire Chief Kirk Lair's journey with the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District reflects a deep commitment to his community. Beginning as a volunteer firefighter, Kirk's dedication and leadership propelled him through the ranks, culminating in his appointment as Fire Chief in 2021. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Columbia Southern University, further enhancing his professional capabilities. Beyond his pivotal role in the fire service, Kirk actively contributes to the local business landscape as a Grain Valley Chamber of Commerce board member. He also holds leadership positions in several fire service organizations, including President of the Western MO Fire Chief’s. Family is central to Kirk's life; he has been happily married to his supportive wife for 23 years and is a proud father to two daughters and a grandfather to three wonderful grandchildren. When he's not focused on community safety or professional duties, Kirk cherishes spending quality time with his family and enthusiastically attending his grandkids' many activities.
