Kevin was elected to the Grain Valley Partnership Board in March of 2020. Kevin won the President spot through election by the Board in April of 2021.
Daniel Strader, Vice President

Dan has served on the Grain Valley Partnership board since 2019.
Dan has worked in the banking industry for over 10 years, the last 6 of which have been with his current employer. His banking experience has encompassed a variety of responsibilities including personal banker, loan officer, and currently manager of the day-to-day activities at the Grain Valley Branches. His career path demonstrates his ability to set and achieve personal and professional goals. Daniel earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, focusing on Finance, from the University of Central Missouri. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and his five-year-old daughter, Aliana. He enjoys fishing and has participated in several local fishing tournaments. He grew up in Warsaw, Missouri, where he participated in high school sports programs. Daniel and his family have lived in Grain Valley over 10 years, with plans to remain here for many years to come.

Lance Schefers, Board Member

Lance has served on the Grain Valley Partnership Board since 2017.
President and founder of Schefers Roofing Company. In addition to managing Schefers Companies, I sit on the board for Economic Development for the City of Grain Valley, Missouri. Additionally, I have been a Vistage member since 2003 and in 2020, I was the recipient of their Lifetime Achievement Award.

Rod Nofziger, Board Member

Rod has served on the Grain Valley Partnership board since 2017
Rod Nofziger serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA). In his present capacity, Mr. Nofziger oversees various advocacy and business operational activities for the Association. Prior to his current role, Mr. Nofziger served as OOIDA’s Director of Government Affairs where he directed the Association’s federal legislative and regulatory lobbying efforts in Washington, DC. Preceding his time with OOIDA, Rod worked for the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure and was employed as a lobbyist for Washington, DC-based law firms.

Dr. Cathy Dowd, Board Member
EVP, Grain Valley Chiropractic, LLC
Dr. Cathy has served on the Grain Valley Partnership Board since 2022.Dr. Dowd opened up GVC in 2017 with a portable chiropractic table. She has focused intensively for the past several years specializing in spinal decompression, physiotherapy and chiropractic adjustments. She complements this with a passion for helping people understand what causes their pain and helps them have power over this. She firmly believes that PAIN is never random. There is always an answer. Dr. Dowd also feels supporting the community is important too. She has been able to donate to Grain Valley Assistance Council since 2017 and was able to donate $15,000 last year.
Melissa Winston, Board Member

Melissa has served on the Grain Valley Partnership Board since 2022. Melissa Winston is a wife to her husband of 20 years, mom of two Grain Valley high school students, Grain Valley business owner, Metropolitan Community College Adjunct Professor, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Melissa has a Bachelor’s Degree in education and spent many years of work with teens and families in the non-profit sector before earning her Master of Science as an LMFT. Melissa also holds a Certificate of Non-Profit Management. Melissa has been working in various mental health treatment settings for the past 10 years and has a combined total of 25 years of experience working as an organizational leader, business owner, teacher, therapist, and agent of positive change. Melissa is passionate about macro-level efforts that improve the community and thus enhance the lives of kids and families for generations to come. Her efforts have been in the areas of building programs to reduce poverty, connect communities, build community infrastructure, support at-risk kids with tools to succeed in education, reduce teen access to drugs and alcohol, reduce teen pregnancy, and improve the health of adolescent relationships. She has raised and managed millions of dollars as she has coordinated many large scale projects and events. She understands what it means to listen to people and work together. Melissa is a Certified “Side By Side Leadership” Master Trainer, is skilled in helping teams dig deep to achieve shared goals, and is excited to put her experience to work for the people of Grain Valley.

Ken Murphy, Board Member, City of Grain Valley appointed
City Administrator, City of Grain Valley
Ken has been serving as a City appointed member since 2019.Ken has served as the City Administrator for Grain Valley since 2020. Before accepting that position, Ken has held numerous roles within the City since he first began working in the Community Development Department in 2006. Those roles have included City Planner, Interim Public Works Director, Community Development Director, Assistant City Administrator and Deputy City Administrator for the City of Grain Valley. Ken received his bachelor’s degree and Master’s in Urban Planning from the University of Kansas, is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners and has completed the Heartland Economic Development Course.
Mayor Mike Todd, Board Member, City of Grain Valley appointed
Elected Mayor in April 2022 and has served on the Grain Valley Partnership since that election and for the previous years he has served as Mayor. Mike Todd, serves as the President of the Grain Valley Fair Association. Mike is employed by the Blue Springs School District.
